Clutch: Wasted Lands - single review

A massive welcome back to one of my favourite bands to date, and they've been knocking about almost as long as I've been on the planet!
Thrilled to announce that as of Friday 25th, Heavy riff stoner rockers Clutch have brought us a new single for our ear holes to enjoy!
'Wasted Lands' is the title track of the up and coming fourteenth studio album for the band, recorded in their very own Doom Saloon and available to us no gooders on January 22nd, 2027!
Now you'll not be surprised to know that the new single is undeniably a clutch track and perhaps even throws back to the same catchy lyrics and bluesy desert rock from the 2015 album Electric worry.
With the band claiming that the new album has one clear intention: 'write a great rock record that will make fans go nuts when they hear these songs live', And if you've ever been to a Clutch gig, you'll know exactly the reception they get when they play any of their back catalogue.
'Wasted Lands' is a fantastic taster for the new album, the single has singer Neil Fallon depicted as a monstrous creature, based purely on a strange interaction he had online after he was impersonated, and his name dragged through the mud.
With nods to the great writers, HP Lovecraft and Steven King, we're taken on a riff heavy romp through the wasted lands and the mystifying beast that follows us!
A toe tapper at worst, an absolute stoner groove at best!
Unfortunately, here in the UK we're going to have to wait for a tour but the US and Australia will be treated to a great time this autumn/winter, with support from Corrosion of Conformity!
